FAQ

Can I re-steep my tea?

It depends on what type of tea it is, for example, greens, blacks, and whites you can re steep 2 twice, 3 if it is a high quality tea.  The good thing about Oolongs is that you can re steep them up to six times for the top shelf.

Herbals, Mates, and Rooibos considered Tea infusions or Herbal teas can usually be re-steeped only once because they are not technically tea and they lose all their flavor after one steeping.   The Mates are also decaffeinated after the first steeping and as the Herbals and Rooibos they tend to lose much of their flavor after just one steep.  Try to invigorate after one steeping of herbals by putting a new teaspoon in for a second steeping, seems to work for me.

What is Tisane?

Tisane is just another name for Herbal tea or plant infusion.  It does not contain tea, it includes fruits, leaves, roots, or grains and is usually used to flavor green or white tea. For example, Jasmine tea is green tea with a jasmine tisane added to it, earl grey tea is black tea with bergamot, and genmaisha is a Japanese green tea with toasted rice.

What are the Six classes of Tea?

In order of the least human interaction the six classes of tea are white, green, yellow, black, oolong, and pu-erh.

Why isn't Herbal or tisanes considered a class of Tea?

Because technical it is not tea, it is a combination of flavors and minerals that are made into an infusion or tisane and do not actually contain tea leaves.
